Goma Fire Ritual

In the Goma fire ritual, prayer sticks inscribed with wishes are offered to the sacred fire. The fire represents the wisdom of the Buddha, and it is said to burn away human attachments and delusions. Handed down since ancient times, the ritual turns our wavering hearts in a good direction and, through that, brings about a better life.

Reservations for the 165 seats in the Goma Hall open at 10 a.m. on the 1st of each month. If you were unable to reserve a seat, you are still welcome to join from the monitor seating in the Main Hall (100 seats).

The ritual is led by Daiajari Ryojun Shionuma at 1 p.m. on the third Sunday of every month in the Goma Hall, followed by a dharma talk. Reservations for seats in the Goma Hall open at 10 a.m. on the 1st of each month.

To request a special prayer, please use the online form below, or apply by fax or post.
