1月 「一日一日という宝」

Letter 　January　　Each and every day is a treasure

冬の空を見上げれば、私たちと同じように雲もあまりの寒さに凍てついているように見えます。

それは、「凍て雲（いてぐも）」。

空と雲が織りなす風景も、一日一日という宝、一期一会の出合いです。

Looking up at the winter sky, the clouds seem frozen stiff by the bitter cold, just like us.

These are “frozen clouds.”

The scenery woven by sky and clouds is also a treasure of each passing day, a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

～　今月の大阿闍梨のひと言　―　

一日一日というこの宝を粗末にしないで、

一挙手一投足に気をつけ、

投げかける言葉のひとつひとつにも細心の注意を払って、自分の優しさと思いやりを静かに表現していくことが、

この時代に一番必要なことではないかと思うのです。

Do not squander this treasure called each day.

Be mindful in every gesture and movement,

and pay the utmost attention to every word you speak, quietly expressing your kindness and consideration.

I believe this is what is most needed in this age.
