Letter November "Waganse"

At Jigenji Temple, we display flowers picked from the temple grounds throughout the seasons in the temple office.

When our eyes meet, the silent flowers seem to be smiling, filling me with a gentle feeling.

Even a simple smile is called “offering a gentle face,” and speaking kind words to those you meet or to family and friends nearby is called “offering loving speech”—all are forms of giving.

Cherishing the spirit of giving, upholding what is right and wrong as a human being, never becoming angry, and diligently practicing with a calm mind—this “Bodhisattva practice” applies not only to monks, but to all people.
