6月 「自然(じねん)という生き方」

Letter June "A way of life called Jinen"

It was early June. There are beautiful waterfalls and rivers in Akiu, and various creatures live there. June is the season when mantis is born and fireflies fly around. Did you know that mantis is called "Ogamimushi" in Japan? It is said that the appearance of sickles in front of the chest and quietly aiming for prey seems to be praying, so it has come to be called.

Speaking of fireflies, the fantastic light that flies in the darkness is a Japanese tradition. At Akiu Onsen, some inns offer firefly tours, which are very popular. In particular, it seems that some people living in the city are new to seeing natural fireflies, and everyone will be returning with beautiful memories that will not be a baggage. When you are in Akiu, you can feel the rich changes of the seasons with all five senses, and every day, I am grateful for the blessings of nature, no matter how luxurious it is.

塩沼亮潤 「春夏秋冬<自然>に生きる」より

[Monthly Word]

The word "nature" is called "Jinen" in Buddhist reading. Nature is a profound way of life, not living on your own, but living reasonably. If you reach the point where it makes sense and you do it naturally, you will always feel like you are looking back at yourself, even if you are alone in the mountains. This is the most important thing in life. At that point, you will naturally feel gratitude for various things. Next, the feeling of compassion for various people naturally emerges. At that time, the person is surrounded by warm air, and another person who touches it becomes natural with the same feeling. It's a very steady process, but I think it's our natural way of life.
