Letter August "Join your hands in prayer"

8月は全国各地で灯籠流しや、花火大会が行われます。

水の流れにまかせ、やわらかな光を水面に放ちながら、灯籠が遠くへ遠くへと流れていく光景は美しく、幻想的ですね。

一方、花火は夜空で色とりどりの光の花を咲かせ、見るものすべてを一瞬にして魅了します。

これらふたつの光に込められたものは、鎮魂の祈り。

手を合わせる心です。

日本社会の精神の荒廃が危惧されている今こそ、心から手を合わせるという信ずる心、いわゆる心の信仰を思い起こす必要があります。

In August, lantern-floating ceremonies and fireworks festivals are held across Japan.

The sight of lanterns softly glowing as they drift further and further down the river, carried by the current, is both beautiful and dreamlike.

Meanwhile, fireworks burst into colorful blossoms in the night sky, captivating all who gaze upon them in an instant.

What these two forms of light hold in common is a prayer for the repose of souls—

A heart that joins hands in silent reverence.

it is now more than ever that we must recall the importance of true faith—of placing our hands together with sincerity, and of the spiritual act of belief.
